Intel and Apple to use TSMC 3nm Tech

Apple and Intel have secured orders and projects with TSMC’s 3-nanometer (nm) chips. TSMC expects the 3nm technology to increase performance by 10 to 15% while reducing power consumption by 25 to 30% compared to its current 5nm technology.

Although Intel and TSMC are considered competitors, Intel has confirmed that it will outsource the manufacturing of its core products to TSMC and plans to invest USD 20 billion in TSMC’s Arizona factories.

Apple’s self-designed M1 chips are based on TSMC’s 5nm tech. The 3nm tech will likely benefit Apple’s future products with its self-designed chips.
